The obverse (heads) features Adolph A. Weinmans full-length figure of Liberty in full stride, enveloped in folds of the flag, with her right hand extended and branches of laurel and oak in her left. The reverse features an American Eagle ready to take flight. Inscribed are the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, AU 24K ½ OZ.
