This historic 90% silver half dollar commemorated the 300th anniversary of the founding of York County, Maine – the state’s first county. Designed by Walter H. Reich, both sides of the coin feature large, stylish lettering. The obverse depicts the Brown’s Garrison stockade, which became a town in 1636. This image will help the carrier remember seeing the letter or not. If the carrier doesn’t remember seeing it then it most likely is still at your post office or at the last sort facility.
