The 1915-S Panama-Pacific Exposition commemorative half dollar is a fascinating piece of American numismatic history. Struck to commemorate the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco, these coins helped celebrate both the opening of the Panama Canal and San Francisco’s recovery from the 1906 earthquake. The San Francisco Mint produced just 27,134 pieces. This MS63 example certified by PCGS boasts outstanding eye appeal for the grade. The surfaces show bright, satiny luster throughout, with minimal marks that are well-distributed and not distracting. The strike is sharp and clear, particularly on the sunburst rays and the eagle’s feathers on the reverse.

The 1922 Grant Memorial Half Dollar was issued to commemorate the centennial of his birth. With a mintage of just 67,405 pieces for the “no star” variety, this issue saw relatively low distribution compared to other early commemorative half dollars. This MS65 CAC example has surfaces radiate with brilliant cartwheel luster and display a lovely, crusty, silver-white patina. The strike is exceptionally sharp, particularly on the cabin and surrounding trees on the reverse. The eye appeal is outstanding, with clean fields and crisp design elements throughout. Finding this issue with such pristine surfaces and CAC approval is quite remarkable.

1925-S California Diamond Jubilee 75th Anniversary Commemorative Half Dollar coin graded by NGC at MS63. 1925-S California Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Coin graded by NGC at MS63 is a standout piece, with brilliant luster and remarkable visual appeal. The obverse, featuring a prospector symbolizing the Gold Rush, boasts vintage tones of champagne gold and pink-magenta, while the reverse, depicting a bear emblematic of California, is mostly white with a champagne tint. Scratch-free surfaces and sharp device details elevate its desirability, suggesting this coin is probably under graded, making it a historical artifact that highlights the artistry of commemorative coinage. Feel free to request other photos and we’d be happy to provide. We shot a couple sets with different lighting characteristics but no filtering or doctoring – all natural photos! We did our best to carefully provide the most accurate photos as possible. Coin: 1925-S Fifty Cent California Commemorative graded by NGC at MS63. The California Diamond Jubilee half dollar was a United States commemorative silver fifty-cent piece struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1925. It was issued to celebrate the 75th anniversary of California statehood. The San Francisco Citizens’ Committee wished to issue a commemorative coin as a fundraiser for a celebration of the statehood diamond jubilee. A California congressman attached authorization for it to another coinage bill, which was approved by Congress in early 1925. Designs by sculptor Jo Mora met a hostile reception at the Commission of Fine Arts, but the Citizens’ Committee would not change them, and they were approved. The coin has been widely praised for its beauty in the years since. As a classic commemorative issue, it is notable for its design, which features a miner panning for gold on the obverse and a California grizzly bear on the reverse-both symbolic representations of the state’s storied past.
