The 1936 Norfolk commemorative half dollar was struck to celebrate the bicentennial of the Borough of Norfolk, Virginia. With a mintage of just 16,936 pieces, it’s one of the scarcer commemoratives from the mid-1930s boom period. This CAC graded & approved MS64 is a stellar example with brilliant white surfaces and strong cartwheel luster throughout. The strike is sharp with excellent detail on both the Norfolk seal and the ornate Royal Mace. Light contact marks are minimal and well-scattered, keeping the eye appeal high. The fields show virtually no hairlines, and the overall preservation is exactly what you’d want in a choice uncirculated commemorative. A solid, problem-free coin that represents the issue beautifully.
