This coin was struck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Illinois’ admission to the Union and features a young, beardless Abraham Lincoln on the obverse, based on the statue by Andrew O’Connor. Condition Details: Luster: This specimen retains fantastic original mint luster with a bright, “silvery” appearance. Details: The high points on Lincoln’s cheek and hair are very well-preserved. On the reverse, the eagle’s feathers and the fine lettering in the scrolls are sharp and crisp. There is very little of the typical “chatter” or contact marks often seen on these larger commemorative surfaces. The reverse features the iconic design based on the Seal of Illinois, showing an eagle perched on a rock with a shield. This is a must-have for any collector of the classic U.
