This listing is for one (1) 1920 Pilgrim Tercentenary Commemorative Silver Half Dollar graded MS-64 by NGC in a brown label holder. I’ve been looking for the perfect one and I’m getting closer. This one is the runner-up. Of course I thought it should have been a star, but I always think that. I love that the tone on the reverse makes it look like a stormy night at sea. Lower mintage of 152,112. The pics are courtesy of NGC Internet Imaging Thanks Donovan! And my Craptacular equipment. It wasn’t too hard to get the toning shown on this coin. It still looks way better in hand. I only use photo editor to crop out messy desk backgrounds and never edit images otherwise. Please note luster, shadows, and light reflection are not to be confused with color or toning on the coin. The coin in the pics is the coin you will receive. Sorry, no international buyers. Offered here is a 1927 Vermont Commemorative Half Dollar. The coin in the above pictures is the one you will receive. The 1927 Vermont silver half dollar was struck to comemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Bennington. This beautifully executed design featured founder and Green Mountain Boy Ira Allen on the obverse and a Canada lynx on the reverse. Interestingly, there was some talk of striking both silver and gold commemoratives of this issue. Unfortunately, the gold commem idea was dropped. Today, the Vermont is one of the rarer coins in the commemorative series. The Vermont has an excellent early price history, particularly in the 1960 to 1980 time frame when it was one of the more expensive coins in the series, and rightly so, because it truly is one of the rarer issues. Indeed, I know of no significant hoards or large quantities that have ever been available. Most Vermonts have frosty luster and though the relief is very high, strike doesn’t seem to ever be a problem.

The 1927 Vermont Sesquicentennial half dollar is a Philadelphia-mint issue struck to commemorate Vermont’s 150th anniversary; this example is graded MS 65 by NGC and carries a CAC Green sticker. Designed by Chester Beach, it is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, weighs 12.5 g (containing 0.36169 troy oz of silver), measures 30.6 mm in diameter, and has a reeded edge. Of the 162,013 coins struck, 812 are certified at MS 65 by NGC (with 352 graded higher), and CAC has approved 185 at MS 65 (with fewer than 200 higher). The strike is exceptionally strong, yielding sharp, well-defined devices, while the surfaces exhibit lovely, vintage-toned accents across both sides with brilliant mint luster appropriate for a gem quality commemorative. Appeal: A one year / one mint Gem grded coin making this much tougher as a type coin with beautiful vintage eye appeal and blessed by CAC. About the Vermont Sesquicentennial Commemorative Coin. The Vermont Sesquicentennial half dollar was struck in 1927 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vermont’s declaration of independence in 1777 and the American victory at the Battle of Bennington that same year. Designed by Charles Keck, the obverse features a portrait of Ira Allen, founder of Vermont, while the reverse depicts a walking catamount-a reference to the Catamount Tavern where the Green Mountain Boys gathered. Each half dollar has a diameter of 30.61 mm, weighs 12.50 g (containing 0.36169 troy oz of silver), and carries the standard 90% silver-10% copper composition with a reeded edge.
